HB 37 –
Offenses by Caregivers of Minor Children or “Caylee’s Law”
sponsored by Rep. Diaz (R115) and Rep. Plakon
(R37). . Currently in
Criminal Justice Subcommittee. Senate Companions: SB 84
(Fasano-R11) and SB146 (Flores-R38). Penalizes failure of caregiver,
willfully or by culpable negligence, to make contact with child under
specified age in his or her care for certain period and to immediately
report child as missing to law enforcement after that period expires
without contact in certain circumstances; Provides enhanced criminal
penalties in certain circumstances; Requires caregiver of minor child to
report child’s death to law enforcement agency within specified period
in certain circumstances; Requires caregiver of minor child to report
location of child’s corpse to law enforcement within specified period in
certain circumstances; and provides enhanced criminal penalties for
caregiver of minor child who knowingly and willfully gives false
information with specified intent to law enforcement officer conducting
missing person investigation or felony criminal investigation involving
child.

Onsite Sewage Treatment and Disposal Systems

Senate companions: SB114 (Evers-R2) and SB178 (Lynn-R7).
Revises legislative intent;
Eliminates provisions directing DOH to create and administer statewide
septic tank evaluation program; Eliminates procedures and criteria for
evaluation program; Terminates grant program for repair of onsite sewage
treatment disposal systems identified pursuant to evaluation program, to
conform; and eliminates provisions authorizing DOH to collect evaluation
report fee and provisions relating to disposition of fee proceeds and
revenue-neutral fee schedule.

Senate Companion: SB 566
(Wise-R5). Requires
Department of State to adopt rules to authorize supervisor of elections
to accept from overseas requests for absentee ballot or voted absentee
ballot by secure electronic mail.

College Credit for Military Training and Education Courses
sponsored by Harrell (R81).
Currently in K-20 Innovation Subcommittee.
Senate Companion: SB 532 (Altman-R24) Requires
Board of Governors of the State University System and State Board of
Education to adopt regulations and rules that enable U.S. Armed Forces
service members to earn college credit for college-level training and
education acquired in the military.

Florida Renewable Fuel Standard Act

Senate Companion: SB 238 (Evers-R2). Repeals Florida
Renewable Fuel Standard Act [which requires ethanol to be added to all
gasoline sold in the state].
